CLIENT // Marda Loop BIA
YEAR // 2024
Every five years, the Marda Loop BIA commissions new artwork for their main streets banners, giving a local artist the chance to reimagine the historic neighbourhood through their own eyes. I was selected in 2025 to bring the banners to life with fun, vibrant artwork capturing the energy of the community. To prepare, I toured the neighbourhood with a local historian, consulted with the BIA, and talked to locals about what makes the area special.
What resulted was a set of illustrations, each representing a different pillar of the community: a nod to the neighbourhood's namesake, the former Marda Theatre and the historic streetcar loop that once ran through the area, the surrounding green spaces and parks that support an active lifestyle, the unique food and café scene that draws people to the area, the local shops and businesses known for curated finds, and finally, the growth and potential of the community's future.
